In de recentelijk gepubliceerde richtlijnen voor de diagnostiek van voedselallergie van de European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology wordt de implementatie van de basofielactivatietest (BAT) als volgt geadviseerd: “and the basophil activation test (BAT), if available”.1 In dit artikel wordt ingegaan op de achtergrond van de BAT, de huidige status en de ontwikkelingen in deze test, die de implementatie in de routinediagnostiek zullen faciliteren.
